Brandon Kowallis (Producer/Director)

Brandon Kowallis Portrait
Brandon began his media career in the world of still photography. In 2004 he graduated with a BFA in photography from Brigham Young University. Combining his love of caving with his love of visual storytelling he began photographing the caves he visited to share his experience underground with others. His unique images have been published in both national and international magazines, on the History Channel, CNN, in books, museums, and have won national awards.

In 2006 Brandon began work on a Masters of Fine Art in Digital Cinema through National Univeristy. As part of his thesis project he founded Blue 8 Productions to produce his thesis film “Pornography: Confronting the Addiction” and to begin a lifetime of visual storytelling.

Apart from film production Brandon also works at Salt Lake Community College teaching photography and digital media. “I think that some of the greatest rewards in life come when we share something we love with someone else. Watching others grow and improve has helped me to do the same.” His unique style of teaching; using technology to manage his course content, and allowing student creative freedom to pursue their own unique approach to principles of visual media, has sparked in his students that same passion for the processes of visual storytelling.
